Sharknado Extreme Mission

"Sharknado Extreme Mission" is a movie in the monster panic genre. This is the third movie in the "Sharknado" series. It was directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, with Ian Ziering and Tara Reid in the leading roles. The movie was released in 2015.

Fin saved Los Angeles and New York from Sharknado. So he was give an award by the President. But, sharknado attacked Washington, D.C. The White House has collapsed and Washington, D.C is destroyed gathers strength at the Atlantic coast. Fin's wife April and his daughter visited Universal Studios Florida, but sharknado attacked there. Somehow Fin was able to meet April, and they were stunned to the largest sharknado.

"Sharknado" series story has a good pace. At the start of the story, a sharknado appears at Washington D.C and it breaks the White House. So the story is facinating from the beginning. And, the battle scenes are good. the sharknado and sharks rage in various places, such as at the White house and Universal Studios. Finally, they rage in the universe. This is an attractive scene. And the hero is good. Hero is successful in a way that I do not think humans, and he defeats the shark.

 “Sharknado” series is a very popular B-movies series. Incidentally 4th “sharknado” released. I'm looking forward to that.

Stung

 

"Stung" is a movie in the monster panic genre. This film was directed by Beni Diez, with Clifton Collins Jr and Jessica Cook in the leading roles. The movie was released in 2015.

Paul and Julia work for a catering company. On that day, they were dispatched to a party held at a residence. During the preparation, Paul discovers that a hornet is flying around the residence. As the party started, hornets appeared from the soil and they started attacking people. Hornets are not only attack humans, they eat humans and become huge.

First, this movie’s good point is the hornets. They are good quality hornets. They move smoothly and naturally. And the hornets become big. At the story progresses, they are like a car. There are also grotesque expressions, but that's good in a B-movie.

Second, this movie’s characters are very attractive. They are good character in B-movies. Although the characters are few, and the people disappear at the fast pace, the main characters were described tightly. This gives a very good impression.

This movie is great. I think it has good monsters and good main characters. The story is a basic monster panic B-movie.

Mega Piranha

"Mega Piranha (Mega Pirania)" is a movie in the monster panic genre. This film was directed by Eric Forsberg, with Paul Logan and Kimberly Williams-Paisley in the leading roles. The movie was released in 2010.

Murder mysteries occurred one after another in the Orinoco River in Venezuela. And from the fact that died during cruise the foreign minister of the American ambassador and Venezuela, A special forces member of The United States, Jason, was sent to the crime scene to investigate the cause, Its cause is found piranha that has been genetically engineered. After 24 hours it is said that the piranha will further expand and become a huge scouge.

This monster panic movie, a school of piranha become huge by genetic manipulation and attack people. I didn’t feel “mega”, because the first piranha was about 50 cm. But the piranhas become bigger and bigger as the story progresses. At the end of  the story, the piranhas are like a whale size. Mega piranhas jump from the river and pierce houses and buildings in the climatic scene. They also sink battleships and submarines. This is a great panic.

It was a very shocking movie. Because it's also funny. I recommend to watch this movie.

Dead Rising: Watchtower

 "Dead Rising: Watchtower " is a movie in the zombie action genre. The film was directed by Zach Riposuki, with Jesse Metcalfe and Meghan Ory in the leading roles. The movie was released in 2015. This movie is based on the game "DEAD RISING".

In Oregon, a zombie pandemic occurred and the city  is isolated by a wall. Journalist guy, Chase, and woman photographer, Jordan, sneaked in to collect data on the situation of the city. Patients were tried anti zombie virus medicine “Zombrex” in the city, but the medication was counterproductive. Zombie virus spread in the city. To control the situation, the government decided on an aerial bombardment strategy. Chase and Jordan escape from the city before the plan is executied.

This movies good points are that there are zombies and a good story. Zombies are good quality. I think it is knowledge. Zombies don’t run. In addition, bitten by a zombie, you will become a zombie. It is a good story. The story begins with fighting against the zombies. In the city, there are fights confused mobs. This story is solid and attractive. Also, fans of the original can enjoy. If you know the game, you can watch and enjoy. I feel this movie is a good live-action adaptation.

"Tremors"

"Tremors" is a movie in the monster panic genre. The film was directed by Gale Anne Hurd and Ron Underwood, with Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward in the leading role. The movie was released in 1990.

Val and Earl are handymen in a small country town. One day, people died suspicious deaths in the town, only Val knows that the cause is the act of a monster under the ground.

This movie's monster is very attractive. There are many scenes only of the mouth, so the whole monster does not become clear to it being an the underground monster. Instead the film raise a cloud of dust , and showed the underground being pushed through. By showing only past of the body, the eeriness of the monster is increased . Also, this monster dosen't have eyes, so it senses its prey by vibration.

I think this movie is the fun and top-class among B movies, I can enjoy the monster in a simple story. The concept of " The fight against invisible monsters  " is S · Spielberg's work, which began from " JAWS".  A lot of movie with this concept have been made so far. I think "Tremors" continues the tradition. I think this movie can be called the jaws of the land. This is a great movie.

Crust

“Crust” (Japanese title is “Ebi Boxer”) is a movie in the comedy genre. The film was directed by Mark Rock with Kevin R. McNally in the leading role. The movie was released in 2002.

Bill, a former boxer who is 43 years old man and who becomes an alcoholic is the owner of a pub on the outskirts of town now. He continued living a bad life. One day, He  was approached with a strange business plan using Mantis shrimp by a friend. The plan is about trying to make money in who human versus shrimp boxing. Moreover, they had found a huge shrimp more than 2m. Kevin who dreams of getting rich quick, jumps at his friend’s plan. He names the shrimp Mr.C and teaches him boxing.

 
This movie is very cheap. The shrimp is not CG. It’s a full-body suit. The shrimp is bounded to string, but the strength of the shrimp is real. The shrimp knocked out other boxers in a moment. It is very strong. But I think this is not a shrimp, but a squilla.

This movie is  a comedy and a ridiculous story, but  the movie is surprisingly able to impress. Opening this movie, he used shrimp as a tool for making money, but as the story progresses, a friendship sprouts between him and  the shrimp. Its appearance is quite surreal.

This is my first time to see a shrimp movie, and I think I will never see shrimp movie again.
